Our legacy

We’re forward thinkers, but we’ve got a past to be proud of. A family-owned business through and through, we’re the same company you know and love—just with a slightly new look.

1967

The launch of Evins Personnel Consultants!

Ms. Mary Evins launches Evins Personnel Consultants and opens the first office in the Westgate building, next to the Texas state capitol. One of the oldest family-owned companies in Texas (and one of the very few woman - founded), Evins was created to help women find work.

1969

The first female chair of the Texas Employment Agency Regulatory Board

Our trailblazing Ms. Evins becomes the only woman to chair any state’s Employment Agency Regulatory Board. Plus, she helped develop and implement the first personnel services industry certification program, the Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC). Since then, this prestigious honor has become a hallmark of any high-standard company in the industry (not to toot our own horn too much).

1972

We kept quickly expanding across Texas and into new industries

By the early 70s, Evins had opened over ten offices in Texas - mostly franchises owned by retired military service members. The company also launched its healthcare division.

1999

Ms. Evins gets inducted into The Hall of Fame

Okay, it was the National Association of Personnel Services’ Hall of Fame, but still. She was recognized for her industry pioneering efforts and her “leadership, innovation, and ability to take risks.” That's our girl.

2019

The Texas Historical Commission 50+ Year Old Business Award

The company was one of only a few dozen companies to be awarded the Texas Historical Commission 50+ year old family business award.

2020

New ownership

A new family joins forces with the original team to help bring Ms. Evins’ leadership and innovative approach to helping employees find great careers, and helping employers find top talent to more communities.

2022

Introducing Openwork

Evins is rebranded as Openwork to expand the business beyond its original central Texas roots. Because everyone deserves to find their dream job, the Evins way!

Our mission

Helping build careers, companies and communities, one person at a time.

Our vision

A fulfilling career for everyone and the right talent for every organization.

Our values

Passion

We’re people people, fueled by helping others achieve their goals. Together, we can shape a better future for our team, talent and clients.

Empowerment

We all create and seek opportunities to learn and grow. By sharing knowledge and leading with empathy, we have a greater collective capacity for action and impact.

Ownership

We all take initiative to improve our company, use good judgment, and look to the long term.

People First

We always start with our customers (talent and clients) and actively work to earn their trust and exceed their expectations.

Leadership

We are all servant leaders responsible for staying connected to the details, insisting on the highest standards, and developing other leaders.

Execution

We start with yes and figure out how with a sense of urgency. We fight for simplicity, rise to the occasion, and never settle when set back.

Our community comes first

We believe good things start locally—just like we did. We also believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to find their dream career. That’s why we’ve partnered with a number of local organizations in Austin, participate in the Texas Workforce Commission’s “We Hire Vets,” and operate as a Second Chance employer. We’re dedicated to helping develop our community—like it did us.
