Frequently Asked Questions

For Clients

Great question! At Openwork, we specialize in a very specific skill set: recruiting and human resources. With decades of experience in staffing, we have our finger on the pulse of the industry and are constantly adopting new strategies and technologies to stay ahead of the curve. Because of this, we are able to source talent faster and cheaper than our clients can internally. Research has shown that we fill positions 12x faster than our average client and cost 3x less by eliminating the need to dedicate internal resources to recruiting, onboarding, compliance, taxes, personnel relations, unemployment and insurance costs (we handle all of that!).

Recruiting is our singular focus. By dedicating our entire work to the process, the quality of our employees is unmatched—our tried and tested screening process allows us to best match our applicants’ skills and experiences to your company’s positions. This means longer retention, minimal turnover costs, and less stress and sifting through hundreds of resumes.

Costs will depend on a number of factors including pay rate, volume, degree of complexity in your job requirements, etc. We’re committed to providing quality employees at a competitive rate, and will always share costs upfront before signing any agreements. Because we are the employer of record, we cover several costs including Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurances, workers’ compensation, employee benefit costs, and Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance and filing costs. Additionally, we cover benefits including healthcare, vision, and dental to all employees so you don’t have to!

We have dedicated teams focusing on various industries ranging from healthcare to manufacturing. We’ve developed a deep talent database in our geographic regions across the many industries we serve—you can find all of the industries we specialize in here.

So far, the great state of Texas! Keep your eyes peeled for more branches to come.

You can reach our sales team at contact@openwork.com. Our team will draft a customized proposal for your review. We can fill the assignment directly based on your sourcing and screening requirements, or we can submit candidates for you to make final selections.

Great question! We have a large talent database formed largely by our extensive local referral networks. That said, we also actively source candidates based on a company’s specific need. We belong to a number of industry associations which allows us to leverage industry-specific job boards and career fairs. We utilize digital advertising, social media, and career websites to find you your perfect fit. All of our candidates are interviewed in person to ensure they’re the right fit for a job.

Of course, it varies based on your skill, education and experience requirements, pay rate, location, and degree of candidate vetting. That said, many direct-fill job orders can be filled within 24-48 hours. More complex searches for highly skilled senior-level positions can take weeks.

We have a very thorough screening process that ensures we have top-tier talent. We check references and run criminal background checks, and also offer the option to run in-house drug screens (instant results), driving record checks, and skills testing. We’re happy to customize all screening requirements based on your needs.

Temporary or “temp-to-hire” arrangements are where we handle the employment of the candidate (and thus all payroll, compliance, filings, etc) and bill you on a weekly basis based on hours worked. Direct hire is where we source, vet, and interview a candidate, but you hire them (and pay us a one-time fee for service).

There are many! Our temporary-to-hire program allows you to minimize risk by gauging performance before a permanent hire. Additionally, we know that some industries are highly seasonal and may need some additional support during busier seasons. Alternatively, some companies might not be ready to take on the fixed cost of a full-time hire and need some flexibility. Lastly, by hiring a temporary employee, you can say goodbye to worrying about payroll, tax filings, or other compliance—we’ll handle all of that.

Yes! All of our workers are covered by our Workers Compensation insurance policy (which, by the way: not all staffing & recruiting firms in Texas offer since it is not required by law). We also offer health, dental, and vision benefits to all Openwork employees.

We work with you on your terms. Feel free to send us orders via email, text, phone, or through your portal. We can also help create job descriptions before our recruiters source talent for the position, so just let us know the role for which you need help hiring.

The process varies depending on your unique needs. We can receive a time export from your system, we can install our own time clocks on site, or we can use electronic timecards and have a designated manager sign off on each employee’s weekly time. Whatever fits your needs best.

You can reach out to your sales or recruiting contact, or if you don't have one yet, you can submit an inquiry to our team here. You can also contact your local Openwork branch, via text, email, or phone. You can find the contact information of our locations here. If you have a general inquiry, or if you aren't sure which location to reach out to, you can email us at hi@openwork.com.
