Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a dedicated Utility Operator in Marietta, GA. In this high-impact and hands-on role, you will be responsible for supporting a precision machine shop by assisting with material handling, machine maintenance, and essential production tasks. In a Utility Operator job, you’ll be responsible for:

• Material Handling: Loading and unloading materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks manually or using hoists.

• Logistics Support: Delivering parts or stock to designated work areas for machining using electric or manual pallet movers, hoists, or overhead cranes.

• Machine Feeding: Lifting parts or stock onto machines and feeding them into automatic metalworking equipment.

• Preventative Maintenance: Adding coolant to reservoirs, lubricating machine parts/ways, and reclaiming cutting and lubricating oils.

• Shop Organization: Removing chips and shavings from machine surfaces and separating metal scrap from trash to maintain organized bins.

• Team Development: Supporting the training of new employees and participating in cross-training initiatives to ensure steady output.

What you’ll need:

• Physical Capability: Ability to stand or sit for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Procedural Discipline: Ability to follow documented management system procedures and safety rules.

• Adaptability: Willingness to perform a combination of tasks to assist in various machine shop activities as required.

• Education/Experience: No prior experience or degree required; we value a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
