Meador an Openwork Company is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Transfer Operator for an operations and warehouse opportunity in Baytown, TX. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an industrial environment, operating transfer equipment, and transferring materials from railcars to storage silos. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to safety.
Job Responsibilities
- Transfer materials from railcars (hopper cars) to storage silos safely and efficiently.
- Operate transfer equipment according to established procedures, equipment manuals, and supervisor instructions.
- Connect and disconnect cargo hoses.
- Follow rail yard safety procedures, including the use of blue flag signs and wheel chocks.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.
- Assist with general labor, cleaning, and basic maintenance within the assigned area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to kneel for short periods, climb stairs, and work at heights.
- Must be able to connect and disconnect cargo hoses.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable and punctual; must be ready to work at least five minutes before the shift begins.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or other hours as needed.
- Must pass the client's general knowledge exam for transfer equipment.
- Ability to follow safety and quality procedures consistently.
