Job Overview

Openwork is seeking a dependable Transfer Operator for an industrial plastics facility in Baytown, TX. This is a hands-on material-transfer position involving the movement of bulk plastic pellets from hopper railcars through hoses and transfer lines into storage silos or packaging systems.

This is not a forklift-only or traditional warehouse position. Transfer Operators work around railcars, hoses, industrial equipment, and material-handling systems. The position requires physical strength, attention to detail, mechanical ability, and strict compliance with safety procedures.

The ideal candidate has experience in industrial operations, railcar unloading, material transfer, chemical plants, plastics, manufacturing, or other physically demanding environments.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Connect and disconnect transfer hoses and related equipment

  • Prepare hopper railcars and transfer lines for unloading

  • Transfer bulk plastic pellets from railcars into silos or packaging systems

  • Monitor material flow, pressure, valves, hoses, and transfer equipment

  • Operate control panels and other material-transfer equipment as trained

  • Verify that the correct material is transferred to the correct silo or production line

  • Inspect hoses, fittings, seals, and connections for damage or leaks

  • Identify and report spills, blockages, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions

  • Assist with clearing transfer lines and maintaining proper material flow

  • Complete required transfer records, inspections, and documentation

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around railcars and equipment

  • Follow all safety, quality, environmental, and operating procedures

  • Perform general labor and production-support duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Previous industrial, production, material-handling, railcar, plant, or mechanical experience is strongly preferred

  • Must be comfortable working around railcars, hoses, valves, silos, and industrial machinery

  • Ability to lift, carry, pull, and position equipment or materials weighing approximately 55–100 pounds

  • Able to climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and work at elevated heights

  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and changing weather conditions

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift

  • Must be available for rotating day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime

  • Must be extremely punctual, dependable, and able to maintain consistent attendance

  • Reliable transportation to the Baytown worksite is required

  • Ability to read and follow safety instructions, labels, and operating procedures

  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Ability to work independently, remain alert, and follow detailed procedures

  • Must meet all pre-employment and site-access requirements

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in plastic resin, petrochemical facilities, chemical plants, railcar unloading, bulk-material transfer, silo operations, hose connections, machine operation, or industrial production are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, physically capable, and interested in developing a long-term industrial career.

To Apply:
Text Amadeo Garza at (281) 643-8164, ext. 2063. Please include your full name, current location, and a brief description of your industrial, railcar, material-transfer, or mechanical experience.
