Location: Downtown Houston Area
Pay: $24.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Occasional Weekends as Needed)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

Openwork is partnering with a respected local government agency to hire a Wellness & Prevention Specialist. This position offers the opportunity to educate, engage, and empower communities through health promotion programs focused on tobacco and vaping prevention, tobacco cessation, asthma management, and chronic disease education.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver community education on tobacco and vaping prevention, tobacco cessation, asthma control, and chronic disease management
  • Coordinate and support public health outreach programs and wellness initiatives
  • Develop presentations, educational materials, and community resources
  • Represent the program at health fairs, schools, community events, and partner meetings
  • Build partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations
  • Collect and maintain program data, reports, and performance metrics
  • Assist with evaluating program outcomes and recommending improvements
  • Stay informed on current public health research and best practices

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related field required
  • 1+ year of experience in health education, community outreach, or public health programming
  • Direct experience providing chronic disease education required
  • Direct experience managing tobacco cessation and/or asthma control programs required
  • Experience implementing public health programs preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage confidential information
