Job Title: Structural Fitter

Job Summary:
An Energy company is seeking experienced Structural Fitters to join their manufacturing and fabrication team in Houston. The Structural Fitter will be responsible for fitting, cutting, positioning, and tack welding structural materials according to blueprints and fabrication drawings. Candidates should have strong blueprint-reading skills, experience with structural steel, and the ability to accurately measure and prepare materials for fabrication.

Responsibilities:

  • Fit, cut, and tack structural materials according to drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and measurements.
  • Prepare materials and welding joints for fabrication.
  • Work with structural shapes including I-beams, angle iron, square tubing, and other steel materials.
  • Perform degree cuts, copes, and other material preparation as required.
  • Use torches, plasma cutters, grinders, power tools, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Use conventional and precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform grinding and finishing operations using hand and power tools.
  • Complete inspection reports and required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of structural fitting experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Basic welding/tack welding knowledge.
  • Knowledge of structural steel shapes, sizes, and fabrication methods.
  • Experience with torch cutting and beveling/machining tools.
  • Strong math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to accurately measure, lay out, and fit structural components.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong English communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Manufacturing/fabrication experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, and working in various positions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use ladders and stairs as needed.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Must wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots and safety glasses.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing/fabrication shop environment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and industrial conditions.
  • Must follow all OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Tobacco-free workplace.

Pay: $25–$30/hr. DOE
