Structural Fitter – First Shift

Openwork is partnering with a highly respected manufacturing company in Northeast Houston that specializes in premium steel and aluminum bar grating. We are seeking experienced Structural Fitters who take pride in precision fabrication and producing high-quality structural components that meet demanding industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled fabrication professionals who enjoy working with blueprints, building structural components, and contributing to a team focused on quality, safety, and production excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.

• Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare steel components for fabrication.

• Fit and tack weld materials according to production specifications.

• Safely operate forklifts, hoists, and overhead cranes to move materials and assemblies.

• Assemble grating panels, stair treads, frames, and related structural components.

• Inspect assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy within 1/8-inch tolerance.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.

• Collaborate with welders, supervisors, and team members to meet production schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 + years of experience as a structural fitter, fabricator, or similar manufacturing role.

• Successful completion of a Handrail Fit-Up Test.

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.

• Experience using hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and precision measuring equipment.

• Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

• Reliable with strong attendance and punctuality.

• High attention to detail, quality, and safety.

Pay

• $22.00 – $23.00 per hour, based on experience

• Weekly pay

Schedule

• Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Saturday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (as needed)

• Overtime available based on production demands
