Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Forklift Operator. In this contract to hire position, you will be responsible for order picking, order pulling and the safe movement of materials around the warehouse. Apply today if you meet the qualifications listed below.
In a Forklift Operator job you’ll be responsible for:
Operate sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials, primarily within a warehouse or industrial setting.
Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and other transport vehicles.
Transport goods to designated storage areas, production lines, or other specified locations.
Stack and arrange materials on shelves, pallets, or in designated areas according to established procedures.
Conduct pre-shift inspections of the forklift to ensure it is in safe operating condition, including checking fluid levels, tires, and safety devices. Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions promptly.
Follow all safety regulations, guidelines, and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain awareness of surroundings and pedestrian traffic to ensure a safe working environment.
Utilize RF scanning devices or other inventory management systems to track and record the movement of goods accurately.
Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed.
Secure loads to the forklift to prevent shifting or falling during transport.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the forklift itself.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatchers, and other team members regarding material movement and any issues that arise.
Adhere to production schedules and ensure timely movement of materials to meet operational needs.
What you’ll need:
Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently (3 years of experience preferred).
Valid forklift operator certification or license (OSHA or other relevant certification).
Thorough understanding of forklift safety procedures and regulations.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, instructions, and safety guidelines.
Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
Ability to perform basic math calculations related to load weights and inventory.
Physical ability to sit and or stand for extended periods, maneuver in tight spaces, and occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work on and off the lift
Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
Reliability and punctuality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
