Shipping Supervisor – Bilingual Location: Houston, TX | NRG Area Position Type: Direct Hire Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift Compensation: $23-$26/hr Openwork is partnering with a well-established leader in the Pipe, Valves, and Fittings (PVF) industry to identify an experienced Shipping Supervisor for a direct-hire opportunity in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations, leading warehouse personnel, and ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, packed, and shipped on time. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience managing shipping teams, and a solid background within the PVF industry. Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily shipping operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 7–10 warehouse employees.
Monitor daily workloads and staffing needs, including overtime planning when necessary.
Ensure all shipping equipment is properly maintained and operating safely, including forklifts, cranes, pickers, and hand tools.
Coordinate with Sales, Logistics, Quality Control, Receiving, and Operations teams to prioritize orders and resolve issues.
Manage outbound shipments, including flatbeds, LTL freight, hot shots, and customer pickups.
Oversee order picking, packing, verification, loading, and shipment processes.
Support will-call customers and ensure prompt, professional service.
Maintain organized loading dock operations and efficient use of warehouse space.
Train employees on company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Conduct regular team meetings and document training activities.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and workplace safety.
Ensure compliance with company quality management systems (QMS) and safety protocols.
Qualifications Required
Minimum of 3 years industry experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Previous experience supervising warehouse, shipping, or distribution operations.
Experience leading and developing warehouse teams.
Ability to read and interpret industry specifications, charts, and technical documentation.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a warehouse environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Experience with inventory management, freight coordination, and warehouse management systems.
Background in industrial distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
