Shipping & Receiving / Forklift Specialist

Location: Northeast Houston, TX
Pay: $20.00 per hour (weekly pay)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Overtime as needed

Openwork is partnering with a well-established and growing industrial metals manufacturer in Northeast Houston to hire a skilled Shipping & Receiving / Forklift Specialist. This role is ideal for a hands-on logistics professional with strong forklift experience and confidence handling large, nonstandard materials in an industrial setting.

This position is essential to maintaining efficient production flow by ensuring materials are received, staged, and shipped accurately, safely, and on schedule.

Position Overview

The Shipping & Receiving / Forklift Specialist manages the movement of inbound and outbound materials within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Attention to detail, equipment expertise, and a strong safety mindset are critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments in an industrial manufacturing environment

  • Operate forklifts to move oversized, nonstandard pallets up to 160 inches and weighing up to 5,000 lbs

  • Stage, label, and organize materials for shipment

  • Prepare bills of lading, shipping labels, and digital shipping documentation

  • Verify materials against work orders, manifests, and quality standards

  • Coordinate closely with production, warehouse, and transportation teams

  • Use inventory and shipping systems to track materials and update order status

  • Follow all safety procedures and support continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong forklift operation experience, including moving large and heavy materials

  • Comfortable working in tight spaces around active production equipment

  • Experience with inventory systems, shipping software, and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to read work orders, measurements, and shipping documentation accurately

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety awareness

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work overtime as needed

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
