Refrigeration Specialist
Openwork is hiring an experienced Refrigeration Specialist to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial refrigeration systems in an industrial environment.
What You’ll Do
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial refrigeration systems
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on compressors, pumps, motors, valves, condensers, evaporators, and controls
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration control systems
- Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals
- Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, and leak detection
- Respond to refrigeration alarms, system upsets, and emergency situations
- Document maintenance and repairs using CMMS
- Support PSM, safety audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with Operations and other maintenance teams
- Participate in an after-hours callout rotation as needed
What You Need
- 5+ years of industrial refrigeration and/or HVAC/R experience
- EPA Universal Certification – 40 CFR 82 Subpart F required
- Strong industrial refrigeration and mechanical troubleshooting experience
- Electrical/control troubleshooting skills
- Experience with compressors, pumps, valves, condensers, evaporators, and refrigeration controls
- Knowledge of LOTO, Confined Space, Hot Work, and PPE
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergency situations
- Valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
Ideal candidates: Industrial Refrigeration Technician, Refrigeration Mechanic, HVAC/R Technician, Refrigeration Maintenance Technician, or similar professionals with strong hands-on industrial experience.
Location: La Porte, TX
Pay: $32–$36/hr. based on experience, with potential for increase upon hire
