Openwork is hiring an experienced Packaging Specialist for a leading metals manufacturing facility in Northeast Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with packaging, material handling, and forklift experience who are looking for a stable career with long-term growth potential.

Responsibilities
- Package finished products according to customer specifications and shipping requirements
- Verify dimensions, counts, and product quality before packaging
- Read and follow shop orders, packing instructions, and shipping documentation
- Inspect products for defects and report concerns to supervisors
- Build, crate, band, shrink-wrap, and prepare materials for shipment
- Operate a forklift to move materials and finished products
- Vacuum and clean products prior to packaging
- Label and identify products accurately
- Assist with scrap and material segregation procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all environmental, safety, and quality procedures
Qualifications
- 2+ years of manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or material handling experience required
- Forklift experience required (forklift assessment required during the interview process)
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- General math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds regularly throughout the shift
- Ability to stand and remain active for 10+ hour shifts
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Overhead crane experience is a plus
Safety & Work Environment
- Facility works with lead-based materials and follows strict safety procedures
- Required use of PPE, including a half-mask respirator
- Must be clean-shaven each workday for proper respirator fit
- Daily showering after each shift is required
- Periodic blood testing is required as part of company safety protocols
- Safety-focused, team-oriented manufacturing environment
