Maintenance Supervisor – Direct Hire | Garrett, Indiana

Openwork is partnering with a respected steel and aluminum manufacturer to hire a hands-on, decisive Maintenance Supervisor for their Garrett, IN facility. This is a direct hire opportunity to lead a skilled team, keep large-scale production equipment running at peak performance, and directly shape the plant’s maintenance strategy.
If you have a strong background in heavy line production, fabrication machinery, and large-scale industrial systems, along with proven supervisory experience, this role offers both challenge and impact. You’ll take command of daily priorities, guide your team in real time, and advise plant leadership on equipment strategy to support long-term operational success.
In this leadership position, you’ll oversee all maintenance activities—from urgent repairs to capital improvements. You’ll set the standard for safety, reliability, and efficiency, ensuring the plant’s high-volume production lines and fabrication equipment operate at their best. This means working closely with production, engineering, and management to align resources, reduce downtime, and improve processes.
Lead and direct your maintenance team to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for heavy line, fabrication, and large-scale production equipment.
Troubleshoot complex systems, including mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Advise leadership on equipment upgrades, replacements, and long-term investment planning.
Oversee capital projects from planning to completion, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and timeline goals.
Maintain strict safety and compliance standards in all maintenance activities.
Manage budgets, track KPIs, and keep maintenance records accurate and up to date.
Technical degree in mechanical or electrical fields (Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred).
10+ years of maintenance or production leadership in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Strong technical knowledge of large-scale production systems, fabrication machinery, and heavy line operations.
Proficiency in PLC systems, controls, schematics, and equipment documentation.
Proven ability to lead teams, set priorities under pressure, and deliver results.
Experience managing budgets, vendors, and capital improvement projects.
