Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Lumper in Atlanta, GA. In this contract-to-hire role, you will be responsible for physically loading and unloading product from the loading docks. Apply today if you meet the qualifications listed below.
In a Lumper job you’ll be responsible for:
- Manually Loading and Unloading: This is the central task, involving physically moving boxes, materials, and pallets of goods to and from delivery vehicles.
- Sorting and Organizing: You'll often need to sort items based on their type, destination, or other criteria and organize them for efficient storage or further distribution within the warehouse.
- Palletizing and Depalletizing: This involves building stable pallets of goods for storage or shipment and breaking down incoming pallets.
- Securing Loads: Ensuring that items are properly stacked and sometimes wrapped or secured to prevent damage during movement within the warehouse.
- Verifying Shipments: You may be required to count and inspect goods to ensure they match delivery documents and to note any damages or discrepancies.
- Moving Materials: Using equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks (manual and motorized), and occasionally forklifts (if certified) to move items within the loading dock and warehouse areas.
What you’ll need:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong attention to detail.
