Academic Coach – Tutor (Part-Time)

Location: Houston Area (Primary focus: 77061 & 77088)
Pay: $25.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Schedule: 6–10 hours per week
Availability: Monday–Thursday | Must be available by 4:00 PM

Openwork is partnering with a youth-focused organization to hire compassionate Academic Coach – Tutors. This role combines academic support with mentorship, helping students in foster care build confidence, strengthen academic performance, and prepare for future success.

Program Overview
You will work with students ages 14–25 who are in or transitioning out of foster care, providing personalized academic support and guidance. Sessions may be conducted in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format. Paid training is provided to ensure you are set up for success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions
• Support homework, coursework, and test preparation
• Help students develop study skills, organization, and time management
• Assist with college and post-secondary planning when appropriate
• Build positive, professional mentoring relationships
• Track attendance and student progress accurately

Qualifications

• Experience working with adolescents or young adults (ages 14–25)
• Background in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth development
• Strong communication skills, patience, and professionalism
• Ability to support core academic subjects
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (relevant experience considered)
• Availability after 4:00 PM, Monday–Thursday
• Ability to commit to 6–10 hours per week

Travel Requirements

• Must be able to reliably travel within the Houston area, including ZIP codes: 77061, 77088, 77053, and 77051
• Required: Ability to consistently arrive in 77061 and 77088 by 4:00 PM
• Reliable transportation required

Compensation & Training

• $25.00 per hour, paid weekly
• Paid training provided prior to placement
