Job Title: Generator Field Service Technician Industry: Power Generation / Energy Services Where: Charlotte, North Carolina Pay: $30-42/hr. Job Type: Direct Hire- Permanent Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power generation equipment (50–2000 KW) in the field. This role involves working directly with customers, ensuring reliable equipment performance, and delivering excellent service. Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel and natural gas generators
Troubleshoot generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and control systems
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues
Conduct load bank testing, breaker testing, and system diagnostics
Service and maintain parallel and medium voltage systems
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Prepare and submit service quotes as needed
Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding service work
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment
Provide professional, high-quality customer service
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
3–5+ years of experience in power generation or similar field
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Experience with diesel and natural gas generators
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
OSHA 30 certification preferred
Ability to work independently and in outdoor environments
Willingness to travel (up to 50% with possible overnight stays)
Must pass background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift 50+ lbs regularly
Comfortable working in various weather conditions and noisy environments
