Generator Technician (Field Service)

Position Summary
Openwork is hiring for a Generator Technician to support a valued local partner. This role is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing large commercial and industrial backup generators at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial generators

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues

• Conduct load bank testing and system performance checks

• Service and troubleshoot Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)

• Inspect and maintain fuel systems, cooling systems, and control panels

• Travel to customer sites to complete service calls

• Communicate findings and repairs clearly with customers

• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols

Qualifications

• Experience working with commercial or industrial generators preferred

• Background in diesel engines, heavy equipment, or power systems

• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills

• Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters

• Familiarity with ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches)

• Ability to work independently in a field service environment

• Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions

• Valid driver’s license required
