Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Forklift Operator in Villa Rica, GA. In this contract role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the warehouse and production areas using a forklift. In a Forklift Operator job you’ll be responsible for:
- Safe Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts (including sit-down, stand-up, reach, or electric pallet jacks as required) in a safe and efficient manner, strictly following all safety procedures and regulations.
- Material Transport: Load and unload materials from trailers and delivery vehicles, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Inventory Placement: Transport materials to and from designated storage areas, production lines, and staging locations.
- Shipping/Receiving Support: Stage finished products for outbound shipment and move received goods into inventory locations.
- Inspection and Maintenance: Perform daily pre-operation safety checks and routine maintenance inspections on the forklift, documenting findings and reporting any mechanical issues immediately.
- Documentation: Accurately complete all necessary documentation and system transactions (WMS/ERP) related to inventory moves, cycle counts, and shipping/receiving activities.
- Warehouse Organization: Assist in general warehouse organization and cleanliness, ensuring aisles and storage areas are clear and hazard-free.
What you’ll need:
- Certification: Must possess current and valid certification and experience operating a forklift (proof of certification required).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of recent, verifiable experience as a Forklift Operator in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods, with frequent entry and exit from equipment.
- Safety Focus: Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and adherence to OSHA standards.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or basic inventory tracking processes is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent spatial awareness, and good communication skills.
Shift/schedule options: Monday - Friday 7 AM - 3 PM $17/hr.
