Openwork is proud to assist Harris County in hiring Certified Dispatchers / Communications Specialists to support critical law enforcement operations across the county.

Responsibilities

• Answer and dispatch 911 and non-emergency calls with accuracy and professionalism.

• Operate CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems to create and manage call slips.

• Use TCIC/NCIC, JIMS, Omnixx, Laserfiche, and OpenFox systems to run warrants, verify identities, and enter records.

• Manage tow slips, abandoned vehicle reports, and related notifications.

• Dispatch EMS, fire, animal control, and other resources at deputy request.

• Provide clear radio communication while multitasking across multiple channels.

• Maintain daily dispatch logs, records, and reports with accuracy.

• Collaborate with deputies, other precincts, and agencies to ensure seamless response.

What We’re Looking For

• TCOLE Basic Telecommunicators Certification (required)

• CPR Certification (required)

• Prior law enforcement dispatch experience (not trucking/call center dispatch)

• Strong multitasking and decision-making under pressure

• Professional, calm, and clear communication style

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates highly encouraged

• Physically and psychologically fit for duty

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Pay: $22/hr and higher, depending on experience and certifications

• Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours (up to 32 hrs/week). Includes weekends, holidays, and fill-in coverage as needed

• Type: Temp staffing with potential for long-term placement

• Work Type: On-site only (not a remote position)
