Accountant

Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Part-Time Accountant for a growing company located in Austin. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting business decisions through solid bookkeeping practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with QuickBooks Online, inventory tracking, and cost of goods sold (COGS). This role will start at 20–30 hours per week with the goal of transitioning into a full-time offering career growth opportunities as a Controller.

As a Part-Time Accountant, you’ll be responsible for:

• Managing and maintaining accounting records in QuickBooks Online.
• Processing accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Tracking inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports.
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Supporting audits and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
• Collaborating with management on process improvements and reporting needs.

What you’ll need:

• 3-5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online (required).
• Experience with inventory tracking and COGS.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
