Meador an Openwork Company is currently engaged in a search for a Staff Accountant Associate for one of their Houston locations. Apply today if you meet the qualifications listed below: What you’ll be responsible for:
Prepare and post daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger entries while maintaining accurate financial records, journal entries, and general ledger accounts.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Prepare and process weekly and monthly payment runs – including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Maintain prepaid/fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and asset inventories.
Maintain and reconcile prepaid expense schedules, ensuring accurate amortization and timely recognition of expenses.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain organized accounting records and documentation in accordance with record retention policies.
Support internal and external auditors by providing requested information and documentation.
Assist with payroll accounting and related reconciliations, as assigned.
Monitor and improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Respond to inquiries from employees, vendors, customers, and management regarding accounting matters.
Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must be functional with spreadsheets and understand accounting procedures.
Must have a proactive and positive attitude toward members, supervisors, co-workers, and the credit union.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with limited supervision, exercising own initiative and judgment.
Must always present a professional image and attitude.
Willingness to attend training seminars and meetings outside normal working hours.
Assist in special projects or other assignments as requested by Management.
A high school education or GED.
One to three years of similar or related experience.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear.
The vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Nature of position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must have flexibility to deal with changing work hours and locations as needed.
