Openwork is proud to partner with a mission-driven organization dedicated to helping youth in—and transitioning out of—foster care achieve lasting academic and personal success. We’re looking for passionate, purpose-driven Academic Coaches who are ready to go beyond tutoring to mentor, motivate, and make a real difference.

This is a very part-time position, with sessions lasting approximately 2–3 hours per day, Monday through Thursday. Ideal for professionals seeking meaningful work in the afternoons, this role offers the chance to impact lives while maintaining flexibility.
Be a consistent, encouraging presence for students—helping them turn challenges into progress:
Provide tutoring and academic support in core subjects (math, science, English)
Assist with homework, test prep, and study strategies
Coach students in time management, organization, and executive functioning
Lead one-on-one and small-group sessions in-person and virtually
Travel to assigned program sites across Houston and surrounding counties
Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress
Attend training, team meetings, and professional development sessions

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, sessions begin between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM
Daily Hours: Approx. 2–3 hours per day
Availability after 4:00 PM is required
We’re seeking experienced tutors and mentors who connect with youth and spark motivation:
Previous tutoring or mentoring experience with ages 14–25
Bachelor’s degree preferred; college coursework accepted
Academic proficiency in math, science, and English
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance
Access to a computer; comfortable using Microsoft Teams
Patient, empathetic, and adaptable with diverse learners
Willingness to travel within the Houston area
Pay: $20/hour (paid weekly)
Training: Comprehensive onboarding and skill-building workshops
Support: Ongoing team collaboration, mentorship, and development
Note: A proprietary agreement is required during onboarding
This is not just a tutoring position—it's an opportunity to change the trajectory of a young person's life. As an Academic Coach, you provide structure, encouragement, and compassion to youth who need it most. Every session is a chance to help students believe in themselves and their future.
If you’re passionate about education, mentorship, and making a lasting impact, we encourage you to apply today.
