Transfer Operator

Location: Baytown, TX
Pay: $16 per hour
Department: Production
Schedule: Rotational schedule, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM. Must be available for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable Transfer Operator to safely transfer materials from railcars (hopper cars) into silos. This position involves operating transfer equipment, connecting and disconnecting cargo hoses, and supporting daily production operations.

Responsibilities

• Transfer materials from railcars to silos safely, efficiently, and consistently.

• Operate transfer equipment according to established procedures, equipment manuals, and supervisor instructions.

• Connect and disconnect cargo hoses.

• Use rail yard safety devices, including blue flag signs and wheel chocks.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.

• Perform general labor, cleaning, and assigned maintenance duties.

• Follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable OSHA requirements.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Report to work on time and ready to begin each shift.

• Complete other duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• Knowledge of rail yard safety practices and devices.

• Ability to pass the company’s general knowledge exam for transferring equipment.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

• Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.

• Ability to kneel and work in a kneeling position for short periods.

• Ability to climb stairs and work comfortably at heights.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

• Ability to complete assigned tasks with little or no supervision.

• Strong attention to safety, quality, and proper equipment operation.

• Dependable attendance and flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
