What makes Openwork special?

In 1967, when Openwork was founded as Evins Personnel Consultants, staffing companies looked a lot different than they do now. Technology, economic development, and migration patterns have impacted the progress and adaptation of the staffing industry, pushing us all forward into the future. Remote technology and digital resource management keeps the world moving quickly, but what about the people? At Openwork, our goal has always been to support the people, from our client partners to our temporary employees to our internal staff. We believe staffing firms are at their best when they listen to their candidates and hiring partners, assess the big picture, and match the right person to the right job, so that’s what we try to do.

Here’s the basics: Openwork seeks to fill the gap in hiring between employer and employee. Hiring managers for large-scale workforces don’t always have the time to pore over resumes and cover letters to fill the right number of positions, and searching for a new job on aggregate hiring websites can take forever. Direct, full-time hires can suffer from a lack of diversity in the applicant pool as a result–and that leads to things like the great resignation in the tech industry, where qualified workers are quitting en masse from a lack of advancement opportunities for women and people of color. We want to smooth the friction between job seekers and managers alike as they navigate the muddy, complicated waters of hiring and staffing.

Good hiring takes good listening.

If you’re looking for a job, it’s a great idea to join our database! We conduct initial interviews with every candidate in person, because it’s essential to our mission that we speak to the human being behind the resume instead of relying on one sheet of paper to do our jobs for us. Job seekers can submit one of our general applications here and schedule an interview as soon as the next day. At the interview we ask questions about employment history and skills, but we also listen to the other stuff: your hobbies, your interests, your home life. You never know when a history of building model RC cars in your garage might lead to an electronic assembly opportunity–but we do.

When you need work fast, we can help. Our staffing specialists receive new requests from our hiring partners regularly, which means the landscape of available opportunities is always shifting. Openwork can help you find a job that works for you, whether you’re in need of a few days extra pay or your next full-time gig. Stay in touch with your recruiter and keep them in the loop about your goals and experiences to be sure you’re the first one called for new opportunities that fit you.

We can see all the pieces of the puzzle.

It’s not just about knowing the jobs, or knowing the people. We also know our home. We’re engaged directly with the local economy: we use surveys and published data to learn more about the cities and regions in which we work. Openwork also works with candidates of all levels of experience and ability. We encourage veterans and new job seekers to apply–you never know when the right position might open up, and we want to put you in it. Our medical branch advertises positions in local trade schools, helping graduates support themselves as soon as they receive their degree. We believe in empowering our community through quality employment.

Some of our clients include government and nonprofit organizations that further serve the community. Your daily shift could include giving back with us: serving meals at shelters for the unhoused, assisting with nonprofit childcare, or contributing to large-scale public health efforts. We know that communities are built one person and one job at a time, and two extra hands can sometimes make all the difference. We can help you find the place your hands will be most helpful, making a positive impact in the world around you.

The right fit matters.

There’s nothing quite like the discomfort of your shoes being slightly too small. Fit matters, so it matters to us. We want our candidates and employees to have the work they need. If we change your employment, we’ll return you to our talent pool and look for something else that is suitable to your experience. Plus, we’re available and there’s always someone putting people to work. Getting your placement right is important to us too.

Talking to a recruiter can also open new doors for your future career goals and aspirations. Maybe you’re ready to make a change because you’ve learned new experiences–that’s the idea! We love to hear that it’s time to find something that challenges you more, or that lets you contribute a new skill you’ve developed. If you’re ready, our recruiting team is as easy to reach as sending an email! (And all the other ways, too.)

Openwork is here to help.

As a staffing firm, people are our business. We believe in the power of good work to motivate and encourage them, and we strive to do the right thing even when the right thing is hard to do. If you’re looking for a job in one of our areas, we encourage you to apply, apply, apply–even if you aren’t sure there’s a fit. We can’t wait to hear from you!
