Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Vacuum Pump Technician for an industrial equipment manufacturer at their Austin Service Center. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on high-tech vacuum pumps, power supplies, and electromechanical equipment supporting industries like semiconductor and solar manufacturing. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated, mechanically inclined individual who excels in diagnostic repair and thrives in a safety-conscious team environment.

As a Vacuum Pump Technician, you’ll be responsible for:

• Repairing, testing, and troubleshooting Turbo Molecular Pumps, power supplies, bearings, seals, and other vacuum equipment to specification

• Following standard protocols for the safe decontamination, cleaning, and assembly of complex vacuum pumps

• Adhering strictly to work safety policies and wearing appropriate PPE during all service operations

• Using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision metrology tools like calipers, micrometers, and soldering irons

• Documenting repair actions accurately with service records, photos, and reports for the Service Coordinator and Quality team

• Performing routine preventive maintenance on shop tools and assisting with inventory management for service parts

• Supporting logistics and sales operations with shipping, receiving, and maintaining a clean, organized work area

What you’ll need:

• High school diploma or equivalent education

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on electromechanical assembly and repair experience (experience with pumps, motors, or vacuum equipment preferred)

• Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical problem-solving skills, and familiarity with precision measuring and soldering equipment

• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, service records, and email correspondence

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a focus on meeting tight equipment turnaround deadlines

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and logistics providers

Perks:

• Full-time schedule: 8AM to 5PM Mon - Fri

• Starting Pay Rate $25, depending on experience
