Openwork is partnering with a respected, long-standing company to hire an experienced Uniform Alterations Specialist to join its Uniforms and Alterations Department. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
You will be responsible for delivering precise garment alterations and sewing services, primarily for uniforms and professional apparel, while maintaining exceptional standards of fit, finish, and durability.
Competitive Pay: Up to $18.50 per hour
Consistent Schedule:
Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (one weekday off)
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sunday: Off

Perform garment alterations including hemming, tapering, resizing, and sleeve adjustments
Sew and modify uniforms and professional apparel using industrial and standard sewing machines
Take accurate measurements and conduct fittings as needed
Ensure all finished garments meet established quality, fit, and appearance standards
Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on sewing and embroidery equipment
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding alteration requirements
Meet production deadlines while maintaining consistent workmanship quality
Use Microsoft Office tools to track and manage daily production tasks
Previous experience as a seamstress, tailor, or in garment alterations
Proficiency with industrial sewing machines and hand sewing techniques
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
Ability to stand, sit, and perform detailed handwork for extended periods
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
High school diploma or GED
Experience altering uniforms or professional apparel
Customer service experience
Knowledge of various fabrics and garment construction methods
