Pay: $20.00 per hour (Weekly Pay)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Overtime as needed)


Openwork is partnering with a rapidly growing, quality-driven metals manufacturer in the Northeast Houston area to hire a dependable and detail-focused Shipping & Receiving Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who excels in organization, technology, and hands-on logistics support. You will be a key contributor to efficient shipment flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality service.


Position Overview:
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist will handle all inbound and outbound shipments, manage documentation, and coordinate with carriers and internal departments to ensure smooth logistics operations. This role requires strong technical proficiency, as you will work with inventory systems, documentation software, and digital communication tools to support accuracy and workflow efficiency.


Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Overtime available based on business needs.
  • Weekly pay provided.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate shipping, receiving, and third-party transportation activities.
  • Prepare accurate bills of lading, labels, and digital shipping documentation.
  • Utilize software systems to track shipments, update inventory, and monitor order status.
  • Monitor carrier rates, identify cost variations, and process damage claims.
  • Ensure all shipments meet company quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Organize, stage, and label outbound orders with strong attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, and customer service teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across shipping and distribution.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, export, or customs administration.
  • Tech savvy — comfortable using shipping software, inventory systems, and MS Office.
  • Proficient forklift operator for warehouse material handling.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Motivated team player who can also work independently.
  • High attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders and documentation requirements.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
