A rapidly growing metals manufacturing company in Northeast Houston is looking for a Production Floor Supervisor – 2nd Shift to take charge of evening operations and elevate performance across the production floor. This is a prime opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and knows how to motivate teams while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
Reporting to the Senior Production Supervisor, you will take full ownership of second-shift execution. Your leadership will directly impact production outcomes, operational efficiency, and the strength of a culture built on accountability and teamwork.
Arrive at 2:00 PM for the daily 2:30 PM production meeting
Shift hours: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
5–6 days per week
Overtime paid after 40 hours
This is a true working supervisor role. You won’t just direct from the sidelines — you’ll be active on the floor, operating equipment when needed, guiding workflow in real time, and ensuring every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
This role is built for someone who is comfortable staying active and engaged throughout the shift:
Approximately 50% of the shift operating a sit-down propane forklift
Roughly 90% of time spent on the production floor
Around 10% dedicated to reporting and administrative tasks
The position requires consistent physical activity in a manufacturing setting, including standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the facility for extended periods. The supervisor must regularly lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing from a few pounds up to 75 pounds. These demands are sustained for 10–12 hours per shift and are essential to success in the role.
Lead and support second-shift operations including mill work, decoiling, roll-up, saw operations, packaging, and scrap handling
Champion Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) policies and ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards
Perform and document daily forklift, crane, and respirator inspections; maintain all required safety logs
Work alongside the team to maintain production flow and meet output goals
Coordinate production priorities and schedules with senior leadership
Ensure all finished work meets specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines
Monitor attendance, labor utilization, and break compliance
Complete accurate daily production and operations reports
Identify material shortages, document corrective actions, and submit supply requests
Conduct weekly inventory counts and maintain accurate material tracking
Adjust staffing levels based on production needs
Train, coach, and provide performance feedback to team members
Support hiring, performance evaluations, and employee development
Initiate corrective actions in alignment with company policies
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and safety
Oversee end-of-shift cleanup, documentation, and facility security
Ensure proper scrap segregation and accurate loading procedures
High school diploma or GED
3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or production
Sit-down propane forklift experience required
Overhead crane experience preferred
Ability to wear a respirator
Strong leadership, communication, and basic math skills
Ability to read a tape measure and communicate effectively in English
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
