A rapidly growing metals manufacturing company in Northeast Houston is looking for a Production Floor Supervisor – 2nd Shift to take charge of evening operations and elevate performance across the production floor. This is a prime opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and knows how to motivate teams while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Reporting to the Senior Production Supervisor, you will take full ownership of second-shift execution. Your leadership will directly impact production outcomes, operational efficiency, and the strength of a culture built on accountability and teamwork.

Schedule & Shift Details

  • Arrive at 2:00 PM for the daily 2:30 PM production meeting

  • Shift hours: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM

  • 5–6 days per week

  • Overtime paid after 40 hours

Position Overview

This is a true working supervisor role. You won’t just direct from the sidelines — you’ll be active on the floor, operating equipment when needed, guiding workflow in real time, and ensuring every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role is built for someone who is comfortable staying active and engaged throughout the shift:

  • Approximately 50% of the shift operating a sit-down propane forklift

  • Roughly 90% of time spent on the production floor

  • Around 10% dedicated to reporting and administrative tasks

The position requires consistent physical activity in a manufacturing setting, including standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the facility for extended periods. The supervisor must regularly lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing from a few pounds up to 75 pounds. These demands are sustained for 10–12 hours per shift and are essential to success in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support second-shift operations including mill work, decoiling, roll-up, saw operations, packaging, and scrap handling

  • Champion Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) policies and ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards

  • Perform and document daily forklift, crane, and respirator inspections; maintain all required safety logs

  • Work alongside the team to maintain production flow and meet output goals

  • Coordinate production priorities and schedules with senior leadership

  • Ensure all finished work meets specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines

  • Monitor attendance, labor utilization, and break compliance

  • Complete accurate daily production and operations reports

  • Identify material shortages, document corrective actions, and submit supply requests

  • Conduct weekly inventory counts and maintain accurate material tracking

  • Adjust staffing levels based on production needs

  • Train, coach, and provide performance feedback to team members

  • Support hiring, performance evaluations, and employee development

  • Initiate corrective actions in alignment with company policies

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and safety

  • Oversee end-of-shift cleanup, documentation, and facility security

  • Ensure proper scrap segregation and accurate loading procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or production

  • Sit-down propane forklift experience required

  • Overhead crane experience preferred

  • Ability to wear a respirator

  • Strong leadership, communication, and basic math skills

  • Ability to read a tape measure and communicate effectively in English

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-driven environment

Important Requirements

All candidates must successfully complete:

  • City, state, and national background checks

  • Drug screening in compliance with applicable regulations

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Hands-on leadership role with real influence on daily operations
